Slovakia - Equal Pay Act (Act No. 76/2026 Coll.)

Slovakia has transposed the EU Pay Transparency Directive (Directive (EU) 2023/970) into national law through Act No. 76/2026 Coll. on equal pay for women and men for the same work or work of equal value.

When it takes effect

The Act enters into force on 7 June 2026.

Transition period

Employers that existed before 7 June 2026 have until 31 July 2026 to put compliant pay structures in place - regardless of company size. Employers created after that date must comply from the moment they are established.

Other obligations phase in gradually:

  • First pay reports are due in June 2027 (covering Aug–Dec 2026).

  • A delayed cycle applies to smaller employers (100–149 staff), whose first report is due in June 2031.

  • Right to information: employees can request details of their own pay and the criteria used from 7 June 2026. However, the right to receive average pay levels broken down by sex (for their category of worker) is first exercisable for reference year 2027.
